“When I first met Liz, she shared a moving story, and my heart has been devoted to this organization since that point,” shares Melissa.
Since that meeting, Melissa Blandford made a decision to immediately invest into serving with Daughters of Worth and was a significant player in bringing GLAM girls (Girls Living a Mission), a signature program to J.H. Rose in record time!
“These girls have so much talent, but some of them just don’t have the support at home to unleash their talent. My goal is to help these girls know that they are loved and that they can achieve their dreams,” says the GLAM girl Co-Facilitator for JH Rose and Volunteer Coordinator.
Melissa shares that serving with Daughters of Worth has truly been a moving experience for her personally, declaring that for years, she lived in a bubble, completely oblivious to the immediate needs that were here in her own community.
“Working with Daughters of Worth has really filled a void in my life, and I’m able to share this experience with my daughter. The girls that Daughters of Worth serves are beautiful girls that my own daughter goes to school with, and I always knew there were needs, but now, there is a deep desire in my heart to actually serve and help,” she explains.
With a heart and passion to serve this non-profit organization at a greater level, Melissa recently accepted the volunteer position of Volunteer Coordinator for Daughters of Worth. “There are so many opportunities for people in our community to help and hopefully I can help recruit individuals to assist. Currently, we have a group of high school girls that help write Notes of Hope and fill feminine hygiene bags on a monthly basis, and it would be wonderful for this group to grow.”
“My goal,” Melissa shares, “is to find people with a heart that want to help girls in Pitt County become successful women and lead them to ways to serve with Daughters of Worth. I am very honored to serve as the Volunteer Coordinator and to empower the girls of our communities together!”
