During the weekend of February 8-9th, approximately 300 teen girls, moms and youth leaders joined together for the inaugural Empower Her! events designed by Daughters of Worth.

Created with a vision and mission to empower the girls of our communities with relevant content and community resources surrounding hot topics that teen girls are confronted with in life, #Love&LipGloss launched with trafficking prevention, social media safety, and red flags of dating violence!

Each table was beautifully decorated with Valentine’s Day theme sentiments, and every teen girl was warmly welcomed to the event with a special Empower Her! event bag, filled with an inspirational coloring book, donated by Phelps Chevrolet and Ala Gore of Usborne books, a tube of Mary Kay lip gloss through the fundraiser provided by April Williams, Mary Kay independent consultant, a beautiful piece of Paparazzi Jewelry, provided by independent consultant, Julie Howard, a GLAM girl magazine recently published by Daughters of Worth, and additional goodies provided by Friends of Daughters of Worth.

Over 20 door prizes were given out during both events, thanks to the gracious donations provided by local women, businesses and community leaders.

Thanks to Bright Futures of Beaufort County and numerous volunteers of Daughters of Worth, each participant was able to enjoy a delicious dinner while learning from the powerful keynote speakers of the evening.

Melinda Sampson, Outreach Director of Eastern NC Stop Human Trafficking Now co-hosted the event, sharing valuable resources and information with each attendee.

Keynote speakers, Sarah Tellis of True Justice International, Sheriff Paula Dance, Detective Lachauncey Staton, Desha Lane, and Diane Taylor of Taylor Made Publishing filled the hearts of those in attendance with powerful stories of hope and inspiration, encouraging these girls to know their worth, be a trail blazer and create your own path when there is not one to follow, and be willing to use your own wings to create the life of your dreams!

It was truly a powerful evening of leaning in, listening and learning from such dynamic community leaders who truly have a heart for empowering the girls of our communities!

The next Empower Her! events are set to be held on June 14-15, 2019!
